I have worked in Oncology for the past 12 years. I was a staff nurse within the oncology inpatient setting for 6 years before working as a research associate in oncology clinical trials for 2 years. My current role is that of clinical nurse specialist in Prostate cancer and I have been in post for over 3 years. I developed a comprehensive cancer survivorship programme in Galway university hospital, and working closely with cancer care west I runs a prostate cancer support group and information series for prostate cancer patients and their families. I won the GUH research award 2018 for my description of this service. I have developed and facilitated men’s health educations events across the west of Ireland, and I am a reviewer for the Irish cancer society publications and British Journal of Nursing. I have numerous poster and article publications on prostate cancer nursing and cancer survivorship. I also have a keen interest in nurse education and have facilitated seminars, lectures and clinical skill sessions within undergraduate and postgraduate nursing studies for the past 5 years.
